What makes the Volvo FH Aero Electric unique: an overview of the electric truck
The Swiss vehicle manufacturer has unveiled a new model — the Volvo FH Aero Electric. This electric truck will allow transportation companies to contribute to climate strategy implementation. It reduces CO₂ emissions and promotes energy savings.
It is designed for long-distance, intercity transport. This segment accounts for the largest volume of harmful emissions. The vehicle’s design is adapted to the specifics of long routes. It provides a comfortable driving experience and high efficiency for business owners. Vehicle characteristics:
- range of 600 km;
- power output of approximately 490 kW;
- fast charging from 20% to 80% in 40 minutes thanks to MCS technology;
- equipped with an e-axle transmission — Volvo’s development;
- I-Shift gearbox provides smooth and adaptive mode switching.
The vehicle’s charging time complies with mandatory driver rest periods established by the EU.

Design features
Volvo Trucks CEO Roger Alm says the FH Aero is an important step toward reducing CO₂ emissions. This electric truck can cover long distances while operating efficiently. Tests have shown that the FH Aero emits fewer harmful substances than similar diesel models. At the same time, the vehicle delivers high performance. It is designed to carry loads of up to 48 tons. This capacity rivals that of traditional diesel trucks.
This load capacity results from the well-designed axles. The 6×2 version comes with a supporting rear axle to take on the load from additional batteries. This made it possible to install eight batteries with a total capacity of 780 kWh.
Special attention should be paid to the transmission. The developers created the E-axle to save space. This increased the battery capacity, providing a long range.
Orders for the vehicle will be available in the second quarter of 2026. The model will be available with a variety of cab options, including a standard cab. Thanks to its streamlined shape, the new model features improved aerodynamics. This reduces air resistance and energy consumption, which is especially important when transporting heavy loads.
Customers will be able to choose the type and size of the cab as well as the axle configuration. Volvo offers various configuration options depending on business needs.
The FH Aero Electric is another worthy addition to Volvo’s line of electric commercial vehicles. Since 2019, Volvo Trucks has been producing electric trucks and regularly expanding its offerings to customers. During this period, Volvo Trucks has produced over 5,000 electric trucks, which have been shipped to 50 countries worldwide.
