Volvo expands its line of electric cars

European countries are among the leaders in the implementation of the climate strategy and reduction of harmful emissions. Special attention in the European Union is paid to the electrification of vehicles. Many car manufacturers are working in this direction, among them the Swedish company Volvo. They have stated that they have all the possibilities to meet the EU’s needs in the transition to eco-friendly transport. First and foremost this applies to increasing the number of electric trucks for transport.
For this purpose, Volvo has begun production of three new lines of such vehicles, which can effectively cope with a large set of logistical tasks.
It should be noted that at the moment in Europe, all conditions are being put in place to electrify about 50 percent of the trucks that are used in the region. In addition, more and more logistics companies are modernizing or expanding their fleets with electric vehicles. They realize that improving the climate and reducing the amount of carbon dioxide emissions is their responsibility. Another point of the increase in such trucks is the increased demand for environmentally friendly delivery from customers. Companies that provide such services will be in demand in the market, and Volvo products will help them to become more competitive.

Sales of the new Volvo FH and Volvo FM models have already started; these trucks can deliver goods both within the city and transport goods from one city to another. Another model, the Volvo FMX, is aimed at reducing noise pollution and ensuring cleanliness in construction transport processes.
The company plans to produce electric trucks next year. In addition, there will be increased production of the FL Electric and FE Electric models, which are used as city vehicles from 2019. In addition, Volvo has launched the VNR Electric in the U.S. market in 2020, thus adding to the range of trucks for North America. There are now six variants of the Swedish manufacturer’s electric trucks, medium and heavy duty.
It is known that the new electric trucks for the European market will have a high payload. They will be equipped with a powerful driveline compared to the existing range of electric cars, while the range is designed for 300 km. In addition, the driving functionality of the vehicles will be expanded.
Volvo’s key target is to increase sales of electric trucks to 50 percent of all electric vehicles sold in Europe. They want to reach this figure by 2030, and the launch of new models is an important step on the way to this goal.
