Key tasks for the development of Rīgas Brīvostas Flote
Last year Rīgas Brīvostas Flote adopted a new development strategy for the next 5 years. As part of its implementation, the company plans to modernize and expand the range of services provided. Besides, the port pays special attention to the improvement of the technical base and the renewal of the car fleet. Moreover, the Freeport team wants to provide technical services at all Latvian ports, if necessary. The company’s management notes that it has the necessary resources to solve the most complicated tasks. Besides, the company has vast experience in providing navigational and hydrographic services, as well as has been a partner for a number of Latvian ports for a long time.
The Freeport of Riga plans to establish a centralized cooperation mechanism, thanks to which internal processes can be optimized. The company wants to take over technical maintenance, thus enabling ports to concentrate their efforts on increasing the level of service for clients and improving cargo operations. Such cooperation will combine the experience of companies, thus giving an impetus to the development of the industry and increasing its competitiveness in the global market.
Brīvostas Flote offers various technical services, including:
– hydrography;
– maintenance and support of navigational aids;
– winter navigation services;
– salvage and rescue operations;
– maritime transport lease.
According to the strategy, the company will be modernized primarily through the introduction of innovative solutions for port automation. In addition, modern approaches and equipment will be used to optimize processes and improve the company’s performance. Each stage of modernization will be carried out taking into account the principles of sustainable development and compliance with international environmental norms.
The main goal for Riga Brīvostas Flote is to secure its status as a reliable provider of technical services for port maintenance. Besides, the company supports the green policy of the state and intends to reduce its environmental impact. For this purpose, the Port of Riga has made a deal to purchase a hydrographic vehicle, which will also be used for icebreaking and navigation operations. There are also plans to expand the use of alternative energy sources for a variety of tasks in the next few years.
According to the company’s representatives, investments in the new strategy are conditioned both from the economic and environmental points of view. Investments in modernization will pay off in a relatively short period of time, while Rīgas Brīvostas Flote will significantly increase its competitiveness in technological terms.
The Freeport of Riga was founded in 2010, and during this time it has shown excellent work results. The staff of the company consists of 100 people, each of them has a high level of competence.
