Lucid Gravity: Characteristics of the new electric crossover model
American company Lucid, which is engaged in the production of electric cars, has demonstrated its new creation – The Lucid Gravity crossover. It became the manufacturer’s second vehicle and has a number of common features with the Air model.
The crossover is equipped with three rows of seats, which can comfortably accommodate seven people. The cabin has an innovative touchscreen display, which provides greater autonomy than devices used in other versions of Lucid cars. In addition, according to the manufacturer, this display is far ahead of its competitors, including Tesla, in terms of quality and autonomy.
At the same time, the presented design and functionality of the Gravity model are not the final version, and the company can change them until the release of the car. However, this variant has already been positively received by the public, primarily due to the roominess of the cabin and the presence of a panoramic roof, which perfectly harmonizes with the design. In addition, the manufacturer promises a spacious trunk, which is also a plus.
Orders for the production of the car will be taken in the near future, sales will start in 2024 for buyers in the U.S. and Canada. On the territory of other countries, they will start later. The price for the crossover has not yet been disclosed, but it is likely to be higher than that of the Air model, the cost of which starts at $87,000.
Lucid’s electric sedan, the Air Sapphire, was introduced in summer 2022. The manufacturer is positioning it as the most powerful car among sedans. It has three engines, which together provide 1200 horsepower, the car accelerates to 100 km/h in just 2 seconds, and in less than 4 seconds – to 160 km/h. The braking system of the electric car is presented by a carbon-ceramic design of a reinforced type. In addition, the car is equipped with a modern engine cooling system.
According to Lucid, the Air Sapphire is unrivaled among sedans in terms of power, no matter what type of engine they have – electric or internal combustion. Experts call this electric car a direct competitor to the Tesla Model S Plaid, which has 1,020 horsepower.
Deliveries of the Air Sapphire began in 2023, and the first specimens are already delighting their owners. Now we have to wait for the release of the new crossover from Lucid, which should be a worthy continuation of the Air model, but at the same time not repeat its mistakes. In 2022, the production of the Lucid Air was plagued by wiring problems, resulting in the company having to recall all 1,117 cars. There were no accidents or injuries to owners of electric cars, but for the manufacturer, this situation became a cause of serious losses.
