What is the reason for the increase in warehouse space
Analysts of Bright Rich company noted an increase in warehouse space on the St. Petersburg market. During the last quarter of this year, the number of logistics real estate increased significantly, there appeared 65 thousand square meters. However, despite the positive dynamics, experts say that this number is not enough to fully meet the need for facilities from small and medium businesses.
During the last three months three large warehouse complexes were put into operation in St. Petersburg. One of them with an area of 35.5 thousand square meters is used by the retail chain Fix Price. The second warehouse of 3.4 square meters is designed for the Ivaper company. The third complex began to work after reconstruction, its area was expanded to 1.4 square meters. By the end of this year more than 347 thousand square meters should appear in St. Petersburg. The largest object will be a complex for the Lenta shopping center.
The need for quality warehouse real estate is increasing every month. At the same time there is a growing demand for equipment that is designed to perform work at such a facility. And in the case of devices and equipment, it does not matter the size of the warehouse complex or the turnover figures of the company – both small and large representatives of business need tools for effective implementation of activities. First of all, stackers, forklift trucks, carts of different sizes and hydraulic tables are popular. One of the requirements for the equipment is the ability to quickly send the goods to their destination, to lift or remove them from the racks on high tiers.
The most popular are stackers; such equipment is used both in the warehouses of retail chains and industrial complexes. The equipment is used for lifting to a height and placing cargo on racks. Stacker size corresponds to the parameters of a standard pallet, but there are equipment in other variants. Carrying capacity varies from 1 ton up to 2 thousand tons.
There are different ways to operate stackers. The manual ones work hydraulically and allow lifting a ton of cargo to a height of 3 meters. This option is popular for use in small warehouses. The equipment is operated by hand or foot drive. Electric stackers are equipped with a hydraulic drive and batteries, this type of equipment is designed to lift 3.5 tons and can stack loads on 2-3 tiers.
Self-propelled stackers have high-capacity batteries, which are designed to work without recharging for several days. They can manipulate loads weighing 2 tons and lift 6-12 meters.
