Gideon Brothers warehouse robot
Croatian startup Gideon Brothers has introduced an innovative solution for warehouse tasks. It developed Trey, an autonomous forklift equipped with artificial intelligence. The robot can load and unload trailers independently, reducing the time it takes to perform these tasks by 80%.
The startup concentrates on robotics, and for their new invention specialists have implemented unique developments allowing to entrust artificial intelligence to a number of processes, which usually take a lot of time.
The Trey forklift was created by Gideon in cooperation with the American company Infinity Machine & Engineering, which was responsible for producing the chassis. The robot was created for DB Schenker, a German logistics company, which will use Trey and its variants. It should be noted that the operator is the main investor in the Croatian startup and is actively interested in using the new solution.
The autonomous loader performs actions thanks to the three-dimensional vision technology it is equipped with. The latter has already proven itself in other Gideon devices. Trey is controlled by unique software. With its help, the forklift can be trusted to transport goods weighing up to 2500 kg. It is compatible with all popular types of pallets including CHEP, IBC Tote, and others. The robot can load and unload about 25 pallets per hour. And if two devices are connected to work, they can work in pairs, serving 50 pallets in 60 minutes.
According to the developers, Trey has a high level of safety and accurately performs all the operations laid down in the algorithm, even in dynamically changing conditions and near people.
Gideon’s most famous development is an autonomous mobile robot that can transport pallets with a load of 800 kg. Unlike a number of other similar devices, the startup’s solution has the ability to replace the batteries quickly, so you can increase the robot’s performance in a short time, eliminating long downtime.
The navigation system of smart assistants from Gideon is based on visual perception. This is a unique solution since most other manufacturers use lidars for such purposes. Machine learning technologies combined with built-in stereoscopic cameras allow for simultaneous localization and terrain mapping.
In recent years, Gideon has significantly expanded its staff, which consists of highly qualified engineers specializing in artificial intelligence technologies and robotics.
Gideon robots are actively used in DB Schenker’s warehouses, and in the future, their number will increase with the new Trey model forklifts.
