FESCO and EMCO started cooperation to transport cargo to Sakhalin

FESCO Transportation Company and EMCO have entered into a cooperation agreement as part of the Solntsevsky coal mine project. The parties will transport oversized and heavy cargoes to Sakhalin, to two ports – Shakhtersk and Korsakov. The route to the island will be delivered from China and Europe. The partners will undertake the organization of all kinds of works, which are necessary for transportation of such cargoes.
EMCO or Eastern Mining Company is one of the leaders in the Russian market of producing steam coal grades. It operates in Sakhalin, where it produces and ships fuel. The company includes several enterprises and logistics terminals. Raw materials from EMCO completely cover the needs of the Sakhalin region and are also exported to other countries – Japan, Taiwan, India and China.
Since 2013, the company has been implementing a strategy to increase coal production at the Solntsevskoye field. As part of this project, the capacity of Shakhtersk port was upgraded, which significantly reduced the load on the highways of the Uglegorsk district. However, the main advantage of this strategy is an increase in daily export volumes to Asia-Pacific countries.
