DHL International Centre in Poland

DHL Poland has opened a new distribution centre. Located near the city of Poznan, the hub will handle international shipments. The facility was established with DHL eCommerce, Post + Parcel Germany and DHL Freight.

The centre is responsible for sorting and shipping parcels to various countries. With its help, DHL wants to optimise lead times. The new hub will also improve customer service.

Overview of the new centre

The investment in the logistics centre in Poland amounted to 180 million euros. The facility has the following features:

  • located on an area of 32,000 square metres;
  • Includes conveyor belts with a total length of 3,000 metres;
  • has a sorting capacity of 45,000 parcels per hour;
  • employs approximately 500 people;
  • the centre has a handling capacity of roughly 1 million parcels per day.

Benefits of the hub

According to DHL, the new centre in Poznan is one of the largest and most innovative in the region. It ensures the high-quality sorting of shipments and the development of optimal logistics for their transport. The hub offers a wide range of opportunities for the e-commerce sector. The company aims to meet the growing demand for logistics services. The key advantage of the facility is the availability of innovative solutions that ensure control of all processes. Advanced technology is automating many of the steps in the process, making it much faster.

DHL CEO Tobias Meyer points to the hub’s favourable location. The location allows us to optimise delivery times to many European markets. This applies first and foremost to transport between Poland and Germany.

It is worth noting that many online shops and retailers use Poland as an important logistics hub. The country is perfect for organising delivery routes to different points in Europe. In addition, significant retailers operate order fulfilment centres and warehouses in the country. This makes Poland one of the most important hubs in the region’s logistics sector.

Poland’s domestic market is also actively developing. Domestic delivery volumes have increased by 120% in 5 years. The main driver of this increase has been the growing demand for services from e-commerce.

DHL chose its location based on these factors. The centre’s location, close to Poznan and the main motorways, was optimal for the operator.
