A new warehouse in Denmark offers a wide range of logistics services

One of the world’s largest shipping companies, Maersk, has opened a new warehouse in Denmark. The facility supports the company’s operations in the final phase of deliveries. The warehouse is at the Port of Fredericia, the largest container terminal in southern Denmark. It is also one of the country’s leaders in handling export and import cargo.

Another advantage of the logistics hub’s location is its proximity to Denmark’s largest container port. The warehouse is only 90 kilometres from the Aarhus terminal.

What makes the new facility special

Maersk notes that the new facility is not yet at full capacity and is ramping up and establishing all the necessary operations. However, the processes will scale up over time. Another project feature is that the hub will align with environmental standards and greenhouse gas emission reduction targets.

The benefits of all this are:

  • the optimal location of the plant enables the delivery of goods between countries in 3 to 4 hours;
  • the hub is accessible via major national and international motorways;
  • the warehouse also has access to the European rail network;
  • the airport, from which flights to China are operated, is nearby.

Maersk says the warehouse performs a full range of logistics functions. It will pick, pack and sort cargo. Thanks to its capacity, the hub is also a service facility for end customers.

Business strategy

The hub’s innovative approach allows for a significant reduction in order fulfilment time. One solution is process optimisation. The company has refused to use several transport hubs, significantly speeding up operations.

The shipping business is striving to expand its services to customers. For example, it develops customised integrated solutions for supply chains of varying complexity. And all of this is done with the principles of sustainable development in mind. To this end, Maersk has all the resources at its disposal, namely:

  • the availability of modern vessels that can deliver cargo by sea in a short time;
  • the ability to transport by air and land;
  • a full range of customs clearance services.

The company’s customers receive a high level of service and complete transparency in operations. At the same time, one service provider takes care of all the processes, significantly simplifying control. In addition, customers do not need to look for intermediaries for customs clearance or delivery to warehouses. All processes are the responsibility of Maersk, whose global market position speaks for itself. Over the years, the logistics giant has established itself as a reliable partner. The company is constantly improving its approaches to remain in demand with customers.
