A sorting terminal for DPD is being built in the South Gate industrial park
Russia’s largest transport company DPD has signed an agreement with the developer Radius Group. The logistics operator leases a sorting terminal located in the southern part of Moscow. Cooperation between the companies is carried out in a built to suit format.
It is known that the new complex will occupy an area of about 30 thousand sq. m. The construction has already started. Transaction mediator is Cushman & Wakefield firm, which provides consulting services. It is assumed that the logistics complex will serve about one thousand employees. According to the plan, commissioning will be in the first quarter of the next year, and operations in the terminal will begin in the third quarter.
As it is noted in DPD, the new sorting terminal will be the largest in Eastern Europe. The facility is being built in South Gate industrial park that is considered the largest in size and capacity in Russia, it occupies an area of 550 thousand square meters. The complex has BREEAM and LEED energy efficiency certificates, which meet international standards. In addition, it is made with environmental trends in mind.
DPD approached the issue of choosing the territory for the complex carefully. An important issue for the operator was the quality of the premises and the development of engineering infrastructure. The sorting complex should provide efficient operation of the company, also due to modern equipment and software. The choice fell on the industrial park for a reason – South Gate is located in a strategically advantageous part of the region, near the intersection of three highways of national importance. In addition, the complex is located near Domodedovo Airport, and the way to Moscow itself takes 20 minutes, which goes through the major cities of the region.
DPD believes that this is an ideal place for a multifunctional warehouse center. This location opens up more opportunities as a company and allows for rapid delivery of goods. In addition, we should not forget about the importance of the terminal for the residents of these cities and nearby settlements. New jobs at a large company will attract a large number of applicants, and it is easy to get there – there is a railway and bus station nearby.
